In this section you can find more in-depth information on the science, biochemistry and physiology behind physician-formulated Statin-Ease®, as well as data from clinical studies demonstrating the relief provided by this innovative nutraceutical supplement.
Given the importance of understanding the RISKS & BENEFITS of taking statin medications, we encourage you to discuss this with your doctor/healthcare provider. Statins include such cholesterol-lowering drugs as Lipitor® (atorvastatin), Crestor® (rosuvastatin), Zocor® (simvastatin), and their generic equivalents. Statin-Ease® is a companion nutra supplement - it's taken daily alongside your doctor-prescribed statin medication.
There is strong scientific evidence supporting the beneficial use of statin therapy in many types of patients for many clinically meaningful reasons. But you also may be experiencing statin-associated muscle aches, pains and fatigue while on a statin drug. These are common side effects. If you and your doctor decide you should continue taking your statin, now you don’t have to worry about reducing the dose from what your doctor has prescribed, or even abruptly discontinuing it, because Statin-Ease® will ease you through these muscle side-effects.
The Power Behind Statin-Ease®
- Statin-Ease® contains UbiquiFLEX®, a special proprietary blend of absorbable Coenzyme-Q10, Vitamin D3, Magnesium, L-Carnitine, L-Citrulline, Vitamin B12 and other nutrients, at doses and mixture ratio demonstrated to provide rapid relief of muscle aches, pains, weakness and fatigue often experienced by users of statin medications.
- This combination is designed to provide the optimal dose and synergistic ratio of each factor.
- Each daily dose of Statin-Ease® provides an adequate level of CoQ10 shown necessary to alleviate myalgia through enhancing muscle mitochondria bioenergetics, a threshold of 350 mg (don't settle for less!).
- The nutra ingredients in Statin-Ease® are physician-formulated to provide clinically-proven* results for relief.
LEARN ABOUT THE KEY INGREDIENTS:
CoQ10 is found in most cells in the body, where it helps support cellular energy production in the mitochondria, the powerhouses of most cells. The highest concentrations of cellular mitochondria are found in the hardest working cells in the body, such as in the heart and the skeletal muscles. Moderate amounts of CoQ10 are found in foods, but the primary source of CoQ10 in the body is produced by the body itself.Maintaining CoQ10 as you age is important! It serves a dual function: it allows muscle mitochondria to function properly AND it’s a powerful antioxidant too.
CoQ10 levels decrease with age, and cholesterol-lowering statin drugs can significantly reduce CoQ10 production. This can lead to diminished cellular energy production, depressed muscle cell energetics, and the concomitant feelings of muscle pain, cramps, aches and fatigue. Supplementing CoQ10 to certain necessary levels helps replenish CoQ10 to appropriate levels in the body. This may be especially crucial after suffering the double hits of age- and statin-related depletion of CoQ10 in muscle cells.
In addition to its role in enhancing intestinal absorption of other critical nutrients such as calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphate and zinc, vitamin D3, or cholecalciferol, plays multiple roles in the growth and functioning of several organs including bone, heart and nervous system. Vitamin D is an immune system regulator; it may reduce the risk of developing multiple sclerosis, reduce the risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis, and it is important for cell to cell communication throughout the body. Vitamin D is really a hormone; the body can synthesize it through exposure to sunlight, although in actuality almost all vitamin D comes from diet, and usually inadequately. Vitamin D deficiency is very common in North America and often exacerbates other disorders, including those of the muscle and nervous system. In addition, older people are more likely to have vitamin D deficiencies.
Vitamin B12, also known as cyanocobalamin, is an essential micronutrient that is responsible for the smooth functioning of several critical body processes. Vitamin B12 keeps your nerves and red blood cells healthy, as it affects the development and maintenance of red blood cells, nerve cells, and normal myelination (covering) of nerve cells. It also aids in the production of DNA and RNA, and the production of neurotransmitters. All together, it helps maintain normal cellular function, reduce fatigue, and helps to promote healthier energy utilization.
Magnesium helps keep blood pressure normal, nerve functions normal, bones strong, and the heart rhythm steady. It promotes healthy energy metabolism and helps support normal nervous system function. Magnesium is extremely important for your health because it is needed for more than 300 biochemical reactions in the body. With regard to muscle energetics, the cell’s energy currency, adenosine triphosphate (ATP), is created with help from magnesium. Magnesium is also important for muscle flexibility because muscles need magnesium to relax properly without cramping during activity.
While carnitine is found in almost all of your body’s cells, it is particularly concentrated in skeletal tissue and muscles, where it plays a key role in energy production and fuel-making fat metabolism. Your muscles can utilize fat as an energy source and do so in specialized fuel manufacturing centers called mitochondria. Carnitine is required for the transport of fatty acids into the matrix of the muscle cell mitochondria during the breakdown of lipids (fats) for the generation of metabolic energy inside the muscle cells. Although often made dysfunctional by statins, healthy mitochondria can burn the fatty acids to produce energy. Carnitine can also transport toxic compounds out of the mitochondria to prevent accumulation.

*The Statin-Induced Myalgia Improvement (SIMI) Clinical Study
The SIMI Study evaluated the use of Statin-Ease® in more than two-dozen participants in the US already taking statin medications, including atorvastatin (Lipitor®), rosuvastatin (Crestor®), simvastatin (Zocor®) and other statins, who had well documented statin-associated muscle pains, aches, cramps and fatigue symptoms for several months. Statin-Ease® was clinically demonstrated to relieve such symptoms of muscle impairment at 1 month, and maintain or improve upon such relief through the 3 months duration of the study. The physicians administering and monitoring this study found significant and clinically meaningful results were achieved rapidly (within weeks not months), and then maintained during patient follow-up several months later and beyond.
